Writing at Work
Writing at Work
While my personal essays reflect raw truth and healing, this space showcases my voice in the workplace, crafting strategic communications, ghostwriting executive messages, and helping teams stay informed, inspired, and aligned.
Below are samples of my internal communications work at NMSU Global Campus, where I serve as Associate Director of Global Marketing. These newsletters are written for two distinct audiences:
- NMSU Global Employees – internal engagement, updates, and culture-building
- NMSU System-wide Staff and Faculty – awareness and amplification of Global initiatives
Employee Newsletters (NMSU Global Campus Team)
Monthly internal communications for NMSU Global Campus employees. Each newsletter opens with a message from the Chancellor (ghostwritten by me) followed by curated updates, events, and resources designed to foster alignment, recognition, and engagement across departments.

Our goal with this publication is to strengthen communication, build connections, and enhance the sense of community across our entire Global Campus. This space will serve as a platform for sharing updates, celebrating successes, and fostering meaningful conversations. - February 2025
Thank you to everyone who carved out the time to attend Navigating Change Together with Dr. Linda Scholz, Vice President, Office of Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity. As we navigate the impact of recent executive orders on NMSU Global and the broader NMSU System, I want to acknowledge that for many, emotions are high and fear is real. Please know that we are committed to fostering communication with care and intention, ensuring that our response is both thoughtful and informed. As Dr. Scholz shared, communication may come slowly at times, but that is because there is much to unpack. We appreciate your patience as we work through these complexities together. - March 2025
At the heart of all this progress are our students — the reason we do what we do. Every day, we hear stories of perseverance and success, and this month, we’re highlighting some of those voices in our student testimonials and our latest student success story on the blog. Their experiences remind us of the real impact we’re making, and I hope you’ll take a moment to read and celebrate their journeys. - April 2025
My goal has always been to foster a culture where it is psychologically safe to speak up — where every voice is heard, and diverse perspectives are valued. When employees feel safe sharing ideas, challenges, and solutions, they become active participants not only in their own career paths but also in the greater mission we serve. - May 2025

As we continue to grow and serve our students with excellence, I want to take a moment to reflect on three values that should guide all our communication with students, faculty, and with one another: Be clear. Be direct. Be kind.
When we lead with clarity, directness, and kindness, we create a culture where people feel safe, valued, and empowered to succeed. Thank you for bringing these values to life every day in your work. Our students, and each other, deserve nothing less. - July 2025
Earlier this year, the NMSU Global leadership team came together for our first annual retreat in Las Cruces. Over the course of a day and a half, I witnessed aha moments, meaningful connections, and honest, vulnerable conversations from both new leaders and longtime team members. One theme stood out: building bridges across our system, throughout New Mexico, and beyond isn’t the responsibility of one person. It’s up to all of us.
System Newsletters (NMSU Faculty & Staff System-Wide)
Monthly newsletters authored by me, representing NMSU Global Campus across the entire university system. These messages are designed to elevate awareness of our initiatives, partnerships, and student successes.

When NMSU Online (now NMSU Global) first started in 2020, our small team of 4-5 people gathered to map out our vision. We envisioned student support pods, each serving 250 students and including academic advisors, career services coordinators, student success mentors, and financial aid advisors. This model would ensure that students always know who to turn to, a dedicated team for personalized support — like having their own concierge rather than navigating multiple offices. Now, five years later, it’s amazing to see this vision come to life… - July 2025
In a time of change and challenge, especially in higher education, one thing remains true: education moves us forward. Whether you’re on the Las Cruces campus, part of a community college, or serving through NMSU Global, we are one team with a shared mission: to provide flexible, affordable education to learners across New Mexico and beyond.
That mission includes us, as well as our families.
